I think we can all agree that 2020 has been the strangest of years. With lockdowns in place, weddings / portrait shoots have been severely limited. I’ve not shot very much but I have been keeping busy documenting my little family.  It was therefore nice to keep in the flow of capturing family life by extending this to covering the Christening day of Lily. I captured Charlotte and Steve’s wedding 3 years ago, an amazing day at Newby Hall, and when they emailed me introducing their new baby Lily, and asking if I’d be interested in documenting her Christening, it was a no brainer!

With Covid restrictions in place it would be a small event, a Church ceremony and garden gathering afterwards for close family / godparents. It was certainly a little different with social distancing, face-masks, hand sanitiser and track and trace details being taken but Charlotte and Steve were keen for the unusual Christening to be documented. An opportunity to capture the story for guests unable to attend due to the restrictions, but also as a memento that Lily can look upon in future years, evidence of what a crazy time she entered the world!

My face-mask in place and hand sanitiser in my pocket, I headed to Harrogate to document the day. It was so great to see Charlotte and Steve again, to meet Lily and to be back doing what I love – taking photos!

These were taken before the current limit of 6 was in place (and all new regional measures),  Covid guidance was followed by everyone on the day.

“They really capture the feeling of the day, and I particularly love the ones of all the children and the dogs, and the ones of Steve, Lily and I. In fact I love all of them!! So pleased we asked you to come. All the family and the godparents are thrilled too! I can’t wait to get some framed, the difficulty will be narrowing them down!”
